M&J USA Express began as a family-owned and operated business in 1985. Today, John Smith is the President & CEO of the company, continues to guide the direction of the company. Under John Smith's leadership, M&J USA Express has developed an outstanding team of dedicated employees who work closely together to provide innovative logistical solutions to meet the unique needs of each of their customers. Quality customized transportation services based on ethical standards of honesty, integrity and fair pricing have been the family philosophy at M&J USA Express for over six decades.

Company Overview

M&J USA Express is a common and contract motor freight carrier specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) and general Pick-up and Delivery (P&D), distribution and consolidation, flow through crossdocking and truckload services. We also provide dedicated contract services and limited small package delivery services. As a mid-size trucking firm, we offer the perfect combination: the capacity and experience of a larger company with the flexibility and responsiveness of a smaller carrier.

Based in Chicago, Illinois we currently serve a 150 mile radius of Chicago, Illinois. Our late model fleet of 101 power units and 250 trailers is dispatched daily throughout Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan providing 98% overnight delivery service for our customers.

Our Competitive Position

To remain in business today, our competitors, like ourselves, must provide customers with consistent on time, error free service. This being given, our focus is on the narrow margin of value added services which give us a competitive advantage over our competition. These services include the clean professional appearance of our equipment, courteous professional drivers, a responsive customer driven support staff, and the effective use of the latest technology.

Our niche in the industry particularly in the last ten (10) years has been to provide the responsive, flexible transportation services of a small local trucking company, for example, combined with the professionalism, capacity, technological support, and service area of a midsize regional carrier. The characteristic of our company has been proven to be successful in attracting larger national accounts. Our goal is to continue to maintain our personable customer service attitude and focus while continuing to grow under the pressure of demanding service requirements. The customer driven positive attitude of our people is one of the primary underlying strengths of our company.

Our Market

Since 1987 we've targeted national accounts in growth industries who manufacture and distribute fast moving consumable goods and are willing to pay for high value customized transportation services. We’ve also continued to provide and develop general pickup and delivery services to our small and midsize accounts. This marketing focus has proved to be successful in that our sales volume has grown from 1.7M in 1990 to 12M in 1995.

Our geographical market continues to be centered in the greater Chicagoland area, the hub and crossroads of the Midwest. With a diverse and healthy economy, Chicago offers excellent opportunities for logistical services. The Chicagoland market is also central to our expansion plan into the Southern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan areas. The addition of partner facilities in South Central Wisconsin and Southwest Michigan have allowed us to further expand our direct coverage to include a larger, more regional area.
